Poem: The Sky Lizard. A tale of Diligence and Gratitude.

The winged serpent
alit from the sky
down from the sky
to dusky firmament
perched and snorted
and deposited its eggs
beneath a hill.

The near villagers polished the eggs
fearful, as the Good Book says.
From the edge of the heavens' tabletop
the Sky Lizard watched,
and picked at its massive sharp teeth.
Diligence done
is gratitude won,
after all.
